The Spirit team has core expertise and investment experience in New Energy Technologies and Deep-Tech. The partners have founded and built high-tech companies, sat on boards of leading-edge technology companies, and collaborate with industrial and research technology leaders. Thus, we have the capabilities to find, qualify and build the great technology companies of the future.
The Nordic region is especially rich in innovative cleantech, deep-tech, and sustainability startups that can potentially change the world, similar to what Nokia, Ericsson, Axis, and Mycronic accomplished decades ago. The region has shown multiple times that it is at the forefront in many areas of advanced technologies. Another important factor that helps “fuel” the startup environment is the entrepreneurial Santander that has become well-established in the region too.
Importantly, we now see a new wave of strong technologies coming that will change how we live on multiple levels: the electrification of automobiles is just beginning and the necessary support technologies and infrastructure are being put in place; non-lithium battery technologies are being developed; hydrogen energy is being used together with fuel cells; new membrane systems will be used for higher-performing water treatment uses, to name a few areas of interest.
The Fund is seeking €500 million to invest in the most attractive high-tech and deep-tech companies in Europe focusing on high-performance energy production, storage, and sustainability opportunities.
